eLightning

Online plausibility of thunderstorm damage

Online Service:
  • Easy and quick online requests for thunderstorm damage in Germany and Austria
  • Result is online available within a few seconds

eLightning provides a quick validation of claims caused by lightning in Germany and Austria. The precise, loss location-specific lightning and thunderstorm analysis makes a yes / no statement by differentiating into thunderstorm activity, overvoltage (indirect lightning) and lightning stroke (direct lightning). The data base is taken from LINET, the lightning detection system of nowcast GmbH.

eLightning offers the possibility to enter the loss location by address or geocoding (longitude and latitude). Dates, hourly time periods and one, three or seven day(s) can be verified. If desired, the user may additionally retrieve a lightning map and spreadsheet. The loss potential of the registered lightning discharge results from the AK BLUE data base (Arbeitskreis Blitz- und Überspannungsschäden des Gesamtverbandes der Deutschen Versicherungswirtschaft e.V.).

Your benefits from eLightning

  • Fast and qualified yes / no statement to your claim
  • Reduced workload by using the latest information technologies

EWC uses the following data

  • Data of LINET, the highly accurate lightning detection system with exact lightning discharge location data
  • Geocoding of the loss location accurate to the house number
  • Distance of the lightning distance to the loss location with date, time, coordinates and lightning intensity
  • Determination of population density and grid connection
  • Our validation statement follows the latest data of BLUES, the GDV study group: Type of damaged device, building and population density
