Wind Power Forecast
Forecast of the wind power feed-in for regions throughout the world
The Wind Power Forecast provides hourly and daily mean information on wind power, wind speed and direction for up to 6.5 days (24h–156h) in advance.
Your benefits from the Wind Power Forecast
- High prediction quality in power production
- Timely identification of grid congestions
- Enhanced planning security
- Utilisation of cross-border capacities (energy sales to other countries)
- Ongoing data quality assurance by using representative individual plants and extrapolations of total power
- Optional: Simulated calculation of a potential feed-in
- EWC forecasts can help in fine-tuning trading systems
Our standard data processing
The spatial aggregation is performed by using a downscaling procedure with a resolution of 1km x 1km, the temporal aggregation is based on hourly or daily mean values. Influencing factors, such as thermal stratification of the atmosphere or roughness length in relation to land use and orography, are individually calculated for each region. The forecast accuracy is improved by statistical correction methods. On request, relative power data can be included in and displayed as chart.
Updates- Hourly updates for the next 12 hours
- Up to four updates per day for the next 156 hours
EWC uses the following database
The Wind Power Forecast is based on GFS (Global Forecast System) data, measurements from wind power plants and operator databases for the forecasting region. Forecast models for Germany additionally incorporate power generation data from around 500 wind farms.
